What a day on the bike path!
Went out this morning for my semi weekly jog and what a jog! First of all, I'm a dog lover. Have a beautiful Yorkie, and love him dearly. But while jogging after being bit on two different occasions from behind, I'm very leery of even a leashed dog on the path. After being bit the last time, the owner said, "Boy, they've never done that before!". OUCH!
So this morning, here comes a big black boxer mix heading my direction. He ends up trailing behind me my first mile and then ends up being my side-by-side running partner. When I turned around, she continued on. No problems there......so far so good.
1/2 mile down the path, here comes a Toyota RAV at me! With all our intense heat and humidity, at first I thought it was me. It's only a mirage, I says to myself. But no. What? Down the narrow bike path? I get off to the side of the path, wondering if perhaps this lost person has had a seizure, or some other medical complication that somehow placed them on the path.
With the window rolled down, the driver stops, and without hesitation, asks me for directions to a farm house, somewhere "back here", that she is trying to find! No kidding! I nicely asked her if she realized that she was on a bike path. She informed me that she thought that something was a little funny about the road.
Kindly without being moved concerning her situation from her very displaced vehicle, she asked directions again. I pointed her to the nearest person OFF THE PATH that could possibly help her, and stoically, away she drove.
Interesting.............what a morning!!!

I thought it was men who would not ask directions until it was too late?

You just never know what you will run into. I love the bike path's, Sue and I just returned from our ride on our bikes.
The most memorable one I can remember was in Albuquerque along the Rio Grand river, 18 miles of asphalt.
Glad you were able to experience the morning.

Dino and Deb,
Very interesting. Glad you survived! Bye the way --- where did all this take place.
Ozz,
When we were in Albuquerque I looked for the bike path. I think I found part of it. We were right on the river south of town by the Casino. Nice.
One of the nicest and in one of the strangest places I've ever seen was on hwy 89 south of I-70 north of the Bryce Canyon area. Did not see even one person on the path which followed the river. It looked as if it had just been installed.
Later, Dennis.

Dennis - happened in Bellville, Ohio....a beautiful place to walk, jog or bike. Been on that path for years......and running on other paths for over 30 years, first time I was ever startled by a car on one!

Our most unusual bike path story was in Reno. As we approached town, we began seeing signs restricting sleeping in the upcoming park. As we drove through park, dozens and dozens of homeless people were laying throughout the park, all with their eyes open or lookouts with their eyes open so they can awaken their friends to avoid being caught by the police also riding on bikes.
