Manchester TN.

We got to Manchester around 1430 today and it was HOT. We pulled into the KOA there and got the next to the last site. OUCH 40 bucks a night. I plugged in the rig and Betsy came out a few minutes later and said we had no electricity. So I checked the surge suppressor and low and behold it showed an error. No ground, so I went out and used the 30 amp adapter and it worked. I notified the office that they had an open ground on the 50 amp side of the pedestal and they needed to get an electrician over here as we are paying for a 50 amp site and can only use the 30 amp service. The kid in the office had no clue what I was talking about and called his "electrician" (read handy man)who promptly said "I just replaced that breaker".... I then informed him that it was not the breaker but the ground and he asked if the ground was connected to the breaker... Needless to say I got the site for a reduced rate. It is pouring now so he can't come over yet and electrocute himself just yet...P.S. Well it stopped raining and he came over and pulled the panel and threw his meter on it, the ground wire was fine, but the outlet was pretty old and when he pulled it out there was a wasp nest in the ground plug hole and all the copper inside it was gone. He broke it open and it appeared to have been dissolved. He replaced the outlet and we are back in business with a full 50 amps and I got to keep my partial refund. So if you get a open ground reading next time you plug in check the receptacle, chances are that it is old and worn out... Dave
