let the copilot look

while driving though the campground i was doing good with all the tight corners and trees.
when we started getting close to the number for our site my wife asked about the numbers on my side. well i started looking for numbers and not other stuff. I GOT VERY LUCKY!!!!
went around a bend and while looking for numbers just happened to see my tires on the very edge of the road. i went right to the brakes, good thing. i was about 3 to 4 inches away from a tree branch. i was able to make the corner but it was way to close. i guess the driver needs to stay focused until your backed in and stopped. i learned a lesson, and got lucky.

My copilot is usually the dog, and he's always talking when we pull in about what trees he wants to be parked close to. Wish I could break him of that so I could concentrate on where I'm going...............

Yep. Same thing in Beavers Bend State Park a couple years ago. Narrow road and tight trees thru camp area. Easing along looking for sites and just happen to glance in mirror. Within a foot of so of hitting an overhanging tree. Hit the brakes and had to back up and move over a little.

Congratulations on "catching" this, I failed this past weekend. I caught a tree limb and ripped the top. It is a small tear, but it is a tear. I have duct tape covering the top for now. Out to purchase the eternabond and talk with the insurance agent.

Oh the scars!

Yep same here at Lake Stiskew there was one spot that when I was backing up, this one branch stuck down just a bit, I was lucky to see it just start to touch the rubber roof, went forward and started over but watched that branch. I told management about it but they never did anything while I was there, probably still there waiting for a victum.

From what I’ve seen most parks or campgrounds don’t always keep things clear at a level for a fifth wheel. It’s real easy to get caught on a low branch or something like that if not watching really close.

For us it is always a matter of team work and Lisa has learned that:
I will not move if I can't see her when I am backing up.
If I don't move and she is where I should be able to see her, it means I am looking at something else and she just keeps signalling what she would like me to do until I do it.
