Many Miles for Us, Thus Far

Cathy gave me a report this morning that says we have pulled our Montana 10,800 miles and stayed in 45 RV parks in 12 states and 2 Provinces of Canada since we have been fulltiming. We started this adventure in Jun of '07 and see no end. We have put an additional 15k on our TV since then so that would be over 25k in 14 months, Whew! No wonder I'm tired.... This may not seem like much to some of you but remember, we lived in Alaska for the last 14 years and without driving out of there, except in Jun '07, one does not put on many miles there.

We have decided we will probably turn left when we get to Nashville after the Fally rally in Goshen and see what the fuss in Florida is all about, then next spring will head up the eastern seaboard to see how you east coast folks live. After that ??????? Of course, We keep vascilating between west coast and east coast, but figure, with the cost of gas and living and no stick home anywhere, that we may save some money by starting our trip next year from the east instead of the west. This will mean not seeing family this year but I think they can live without us another year.

We will try and stay in as many 1000 Trails, RPI, SKP, Mil Fam Camps, Enjoy America and Good Sam, with an ocassional KOA, CG as much as possible. If anyone has any suggestions, we are all ears....

Hope to meet alot of you folks as we travel. We will firm up our plans as we go along......

See you on the road!!!!!

Sounds like you are just having a fun time.

Do you like the Thousand Trails? Do you think it is worth it to be a member?

Thanks.

I haven't kept track of the mileage since we started full timing in 2000 but we've made seven round trips east to west and north to south, plus all the in betweens. In those seven years we put 125,000 miles on the truck though.

Waynem, we've been members of TT for 6+ years and we feel we have gotten our money's worth, even though we haven't been in a TT park for the last two years.

Wayne, the key to any park or club membership is utilization. We had a rather large initial buy in and it will be years before we see a return on our investment, However, we like the 1000 Trails lifestyle, which is more like camping as opposed to RV'ing.

Glenn, we will be making several stops along the way before we get to Florida. We would like to stay inland somewhere in central FL, can you recommend a few places???? I know you spend a lot of time down there. After the fall rally we will be going to Park City, KY, then a COE near Nashville, then working our way south thru Georgia, SC and into FL......

Sounds like you're really enjoying your travels a lot. Send us a p.m. if you come through the North East part of KY, and maybe we can get together for a little visit.

Helen,

Ninety thousand! Wow! That's a lot of miles. How many tow vehicles have you been through? And also how many trailers?

I know you folks are enjoying your journey and it just doesn't get any better than that. Keep on going.

And keep on enjoying.

Hope to see you folks on down the road.
