I just checked ours and it's Albertson's store brand. I did the shake test last night and it's still floating about 99%. I think the last time I got excited about TP was when we ran out.

Don't really watch the brand, just septic safe.

Carol, the Quilted Northern says septic safe and it might be ok for true septic tanks. But after flunking the shake test and causing problems in our tank, "septic safe" is no longer good enough for me. It will have to pass the shake test, too.

Clutch, you might consider switching brands before the problems start.

I hear ya Steve, and have taken note.

But remember I put almost NONE of that paper IN the toilet. Only the greatly soiled stuff goes down there. Even when we are on limited water supplies, we have not had trouble - - knock on the ole wooden noggin - - with mountains/pyramids.

Right now due to our circumstances, we are only using 60 gallons of water a month. We are still able to use the stick built for showers, and the serious toilet issues. We are only using the toilet for night time visits, and no paper has gone down there in weeks.

Think I will change my chant to: Less paper, none is better!

For those that insist on depositing all paper in the toilet, best leave Quilted Northern on the store shelves, eh??

We got some Angel Soft, recommended in this thread by others, and did the shake test. I have to say I am duly impressed. About five seconds of shaking one sheet in a bottle of water and it was so disintegrated that when I poured it down the sink there was no residue whatsoever left in the strainer. None.

I get it by the multipack at WallyWorld and divide it up between the house and montana. I heard about it at my hair dressers . Ours is double ply.

Scott makes a new tissue called Extra Soft Mega. It is bigger than double rolls and like it says, Extra Soft. It passes the shake test with flying colors. I can usually find this at Target but not all grocery stores so I buy at least 12 rolls when I find it.

we use the Angel Soft also, no probs.
also, after we dump the tank, i drop in the Toilet treatment tablet with a gallon of water, and that helps clean things up as it sloshes around in there.

Carol, it's 2-ply. Very comfortable. You can buy it at Wallyworld (we did) or any grocery store. It's a common brand.
