Difficult decision

I never thought I'd do this, but I've decided to buy a motorhome and sell my beloved Montana! The motorhome will be easier for me to handle and will allow me to have a small car to get around town in. Coincidentally, today is the 4th anniversary of the day I began my full-timing adventure. March Fo(u)rth!

The Monty and truck will be available around the middle of March. If anyone is interested, here's a brief description:

2005 Montana 3670RL
- HWH hydraulic leveling jacks, front & rear
- Mor/Ryde independent suspension system and pin box
- Hydraulic disc brakes and NevrLube hubs
- Carefree slide awnings, window awnings and electric upgrade for main awning
- Splendide washer/dryer
- Solar system and 2000 W inverter
- Whole house electrical management system

2003 Dodge Ram 3500 HO Cummins Diesel 4x4 Quad Cab Long Bed SRW
- 69,000 miles
- Yamaha 3000iseb generator in truck bed

Just because you are selling your Montana and buying a Motorhome doesn't mean you can't come to the MOC rallies. You keep in touch as you are an inspiration to all of us.

Sharon,

We will be sorry to lose you. Don't be a stranger.

To anyone who is interested, I would recommend you take a look and Sharon's 3670RL. It was built just shortly before ours, and (although we are prejudiced) we think it is the best layout Montana ever made, and it is a true "classic" Montana with a real divided bathroom. One of the last of the "good" ones (in our opinion anyway). Sharon's also has many improvements that enhance its value.

Congratulations on starting your fifth year of fulltiming Sharon. I'm sure that you have studied this very carefully and I wish you the best with your new purchase . Please don't be a stranger to this forum. I'll be seeing you at the Escapades for sure.

Travel safe,
Helen

I can understand your decision..My first choice was a motorhome and a Toad but I was out voted. IMO it is the best way to Rv and one day..who knows. Decisions are always difficult but at the end of the dayswe must do what serves our needs best..good luck on your new adventure.

Sharon: Just attended an RV show in KC and it rekindled my interest in upgrading my suspension and brakes to the MorRyde IS and disc brakes. If you don't mind, would you either email me or comment on your impression of them; is it worth the upgrade, etc...???

Thanks in advance.

And finally, as with the others, best wishes on your new adventure(s) in the Class A world. Don't be a stranger to the MOC!!

Once a member of the MOC family, always a member. You are always welcome, Sharon. You have a lot of valuable experience from all your travels and will certainly be able to make great contributions to this forum. We understand your decision to go to a motorhome and share our congratulations. I'm glad we were able to meet you at Quartzite and look forward to seeing you on down the road.

I think you are correct for a single operator the motor home is easier to handle. Best of luck to you. Let us know how it works out.
Cheers,

Skypilot,
I don't have the disc brakes (though I wish I did) but I do have the Mor/ryde individual suspension and believe it is well worth the money. Takes a lot of the "bounce" out of the rig, if not all the bounce.

Everyone, thanks so much for your wonderful comments! Aren’t MOC members great?? I don’t think I’ll ever find another brand-specific group as friendly, helpful and supportive as this one, so I’m happy to know you’ll let me continue as a member!

Skypilot, I’ve never regretted having the Mor/Ryde IS system and hydraulic disc brakes, although I have had problems. I’ll email you privately.

Orv: Being in Lakewood I can imagine why you'd like them - As I recall you are down in the mountains south of Roswell; it has been 30 years since I was last down that far South, used to fly search missions for Civil Air Patrol out of Albuquerque and then later El Paso. Some rugged areas down there!!

Sharon: Appreciate it, look forward to hearing from you. None of my business but being nosy - you getting a diesel pusher? Saw some nice units yesterday in KC at their RV show and seemed like all the dealers were 'pushing' people towards the ones they have on hand - engines before all the new polution stuff comes in.

Sharon,

Please stop in and chat with us every once in a while, let us know your new adventures. You can be part of the Allumni!

I imagine we will turn to the diesel pusher at retirement, but that's a ways away yet.

Sharon,
Now we understand your email regarding Buellton & Shasta. Hope you'll get to attend anyway. We regret to admit it, but a motorhome would be the best bet. Hope to see you down the road soon, its been great to get to know you. As Doug said, you have truly been an inspiration to us all!!

Yes, skypilot, I'm getting a diesel pusher, a Winnebago Journey 36DL. Some things about it I'll love, some I'll hate... No RV is perfect, right??

Also, I grew up in El Paso, but I no longer have any family there, and it's not the same kind of place it was in the 60's.

Sharon: Ref El Paso - or the late 70's / early 80's. Wife and I originally thought we'd go back there upon getting out of the Army (they call it retirement - ha- ) but we went back in 92 and what a shock. Nothing like we remembered it. It is amazing how the mind treats things. Blessing and safe travels!!
