We're EXCITED...

...to step up to a 3400RL. And what a step!!! Our former rig was a lightweight Springdale 24'. We love the way the 3400RL tows, and of course the "lap of luxury" interior. Our TV is a 2003 Ford F250HD SB with 5.4L. It just manages the new Montana.

We've only had the 3400RL for a few weeks, and plan our big outing Easter week at CA coast near Pismo Beach. Wish us luck on the shakedown.

Oh, Barb is my fiance' (soon-to-be-wife). She's retired. We live in Oakhurst, CA near Yosemite National Park. I'm 60, and have about 5 more years teaching then retirement.

We're planning to attend the informal outing in May at Shasta area. Have to wait 'til tomorrow to see if space is still available (they're closed on weekends this time of the year.)

Good RVing to all!!!!

Barb & Larry (that's me!)

Larry & Barb,
Welcome to the MOC forum! Always good to see newcomers jumping right in and posting. Congratulations on your new Montana. May you enjoy many happy miles in your new wheel estate. We share in your excitement. All of us remember those exciting times when we were awaiting delivery, bringing our Montanas home, and that first outing. Be sure to keep us posted on your adventures. There are lots of great folks here with experience in your specific unit who are willing to share. Jump in with any questions you may have. We will be looking forward to meeting you both at a future MOC Rally.

Barb & Larry,
Congrats on your new Montanta. We just bought a new 2980RL in January 2005. And actually, we're neighbors, we live in Lemoore. We're looking forward to meeting you both at the Shasta outing. We'll be at the Delta mid this week through Thursday of Easter vacation week. (This will be our second trip since Jan.) Have a great trip to Pismo (We're going to Avila in April and Bass Lake in early May)!!

CONGRADULATIONS! We also purchased the 2005 3400RL. And indeed it is a very beautiful coach. Hope that you really enjoy your RV experience. If you have any questions be sure and post them on the MOC website. You are going to be surprised at just how many people will jump right in and give their opinions and answers. Good Luck with your travels.

Welcome to MOC and congratulations on the new Montana. This is a very friendly and informative place, so jump right in and post and ask questions. It has been very helpful to us, as first time Montana owners, and we learn something helpful nearly every time we log in. May you have many happy adventures ahead.

Well, we did it! Our Easter trip was a wet one, though! We were at Pismo, and it rained 3 of the 5 days! But it didn't dampen our spirits, and proved the weather capability of the 3400. The unit towed like a charm, and we were even able to do well in the mountains! That Hypertek programmer really helped.

I did have one problem, and I'm going to admit it right here. I neglected to use the slider, and while backing up at Paul Everet's RV center, I bashed in the rear window

Oh, well, live and learn. My other 5th wheel didn't have a clearance problem, but I know now to set the slider on the hitch before maneuvering. Wish more manufacturers would round the corners to clear short bed trucks!

Well Barb...... welcome to the club! I did the very same thing about 1-1/2 years ago. That's okay, we learn by our mistakes and by posting them here, others will hopefully learn and not do what we did!

Glad you had a good trip otherwise. Looking forwards to meeting you at Shasta.

Barbara & Larry, Glad you enjoyed your Easter outing. Sorry to hear about your rear window. Doubt there is any of us here on the forum who have not made some mistakes, but we all learn from those mistakes. Guess it is part of the learning process though I am sure you would have rather learned with a smaller mistake. Fortunately we have a long bed and do not have top think about setting a slider. Thanks for sharing with us.

Welcome aboard, Barb and Larry! How long have you lived in Oakhurst? We used to have family in Oakhurst. Everett and Elsie Rose, my uncle and aunt. Both have passed away now. Their kids are Everett Lee (lives near Awahnee now), Dennis (lives near San Diego) and Joyce (died in an auto accident in 1962). I don't suppose you knew any of them? We spent a couple of weeks last spring enjoying Yosemite. We stayed at Greeley Hill, north of you. We came through Oakhurst several times and had dinner there one evening. We towed the Montana north from Oakhurst to Greeley Hill, up to Coulterville, then east to Greeley Hill. Intersting towing experience, gorgeous drive.
