Step support

Does anyone have any ideas for supporting the entryway steps. I'm a very heavy person and the wife doesn't like the way the steps bend when I go in and out of the coach. Thanks for any comments.

Gene,

Camping World sells an adjustable step support. Not sure how well it works but I did see it in their store.

One time I picked up two blocks of wood at Home Depot that fit under each end of my bottom step and was the right height to fit between the patio and step. Just got lucky with that time.

I carry an assortment of pieces of lumber and can usually block up the steps to get rid of the movement. Believe me when my 320+ pounds steps on them steps without support they definitely sag.

Here is a better solution...

Being that we will be in our current location for six months and seing as how they are doing some remodeling to the office that sits just accross the driveway I was able to scrounge up enough free lumber to build these steps. Only cost involved was 14 bucks for the carpet.

I have put a cement block and a flat block under the bottom step and built it up tight with dirt has worked for the past 6mo but will see.

Glenn,
What are your plans for the steps after your tenure at your present location? Do you plan to disassemble and transport or leave them behind?

I have the adjustable support from Camping World and it works great--I bought the tallest one and use it all the time. Very easy to set up and does a great job of supporting the steps. Did not get the one that attaches to the step, just sits beneath it.

Gene -

I think at the rally I saw Glen had some wood blocks made for under his jacks. If I recall correctly, you take some 2x6's with 2x4's between and laminate them and then slide them under the bottom step, you would have a nice, fairly light support that is inexpensive, doesn't tip and will store easy. Know what I mean'um. Had to get into the act.
