Awning

Walked by my parked Big Sky today and the retracted electric awning right side arm had a black plastic flat strip about 1/4 inch x 2 inch hanging out of it. The strip was hanging out about one foot. I shoved the strip back up in the arm and it stayed there but I am sure it will come out again when I move the RV. Any idea what this strip is for and why it slid down the arm.

Right now I feel like a real fool. I talked to a service tech. and he told me to open the awning and look inside the rail that is attached to the RV wall, the piece I am talking about should be a strip about 2 ft long that protects the 12 volt power wire to the motor. Opened the awning and just like he said the piece covers the 12 volt wire. The tech said to slide it to the right place and silicone it in place.
So easy to see and repair. Never to old to learn.
