State Maps

We need a few state maps. The road atlas is nice but isn't everything I want in a map. We don't belong to AAA. Is there anyone else that has maps? Escapees, Passport America, etc? Thanks for the replies.

Stop at the welcome centers as you enter each state and they will give you one!

Each state has a website for travel and vacation info. Most states will be happy to send you a map. I noticed last year that some states were cutting expenses and either not sending out a map or printing up a cheap map.

We also have noticed that some states have closed their "Rest Areas" and their "Welcome Centers". We just got back from Mississippi and their "Welcome Center" on I-55 going north from Louisiana is closed as is most of the "Rest Areas". Arizona's "Rest Areas on I-40 were closed last year. I haven't heard about this year other than Arizona was closing some state parks and raising the rates on others.

I'll bet that some other states are doing the same.

When we plan a trip across state lines, I will get on each state's web site and request a map and travel brochure. And if there are certain cities we plan to visit, I do the same for them if they have them available. The info usually arrives within 3-4 weeks or less. That way I can browse over them for some time in advance. Helps build anticipation of the coming trip.
The welcome centers are usually only on the interstates and we don't always enter a state that way.
