Perma-Plate

Has anyone had this clear coat applied to their Montie? It is suppose to stop u v effect on gel-coat, expensive, but no waxing required? Perma Plate is manfactured by Siskin Enterprise Inc. Salt Lake City, UT. 5 year warranty ?

what is their background on this? How long have they been in business? Can they back up what they say? Can you contact any users of their products? That would be my questions before shelling out hard earned cash.

The front cap on our 2000 Monty had a clear coat finish- The clear coat has been deteriorating from top to bottom- Only the bottom third remains and it flakes off daily- I have no info regarding the origin of the product- Don

DonandJudy, was the clearcoat on yours an aftermarket product rather than factory applied?

Jordjd, I'm not familiar with that product. Do you happen to have some internet addresses for it?

We have just ordered our Montana and the dealer is offering us the same product. We are currently researching to see if it is worth the money. I like the idea of not having to wax but ... really? Our concern is keeping our unit in good condition. WE will follow this thread with interest!

I had the Perma Plate installed (aftermarket) on a new 2008 Fleetwood Jamboree GT motorhome and it really kept the appearance like new. I just recently sold the unit, but it was as new.
I also had Perma Plate installed by my Chev. dealer when I purchased a new 2008 HHR vehicle and it still looks showroom fresh. The product and its installation is quite costly, but it sure has helped maintain the appearance of my vehicles. I have had no problems with it flaking off.

We have had our fiver for almost three years and I have only washed it, yet it still shines and other owners have asked how I keep it looking so new. It must have one of those products on it, I wasn't told so when we bought it. Not sure how to find out.

We had a product called Duratain put on ours and it sounds like the same type of product. If you do wax it it is supposed to discolor the unit. We are happy with ours. The black streaks actually wipe off dry, but when washing they tend to be harder to wash off. The company that installed our also undercoated all metal parts under the trailer.

Tom-- Glad you asked that! I was just about to when you keyed into the thread! These two products sound great IF they don't mess up the decals! It would seem to me that they would coat them and seal them in but who am I to know! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread also!

Lurking in the shadows here for about 1 1/2 yrs. Much info learned in that time. I had a product called Extreme ProTec put on my 09, 2955 when we purchased it in late 08. A wax type product that the water beads up on every time I wash the trailer. Some type of fabric protection was used on the inside. the company is located in Texas. Very satisfied with it's performance so far.899.00 for the protection but so far worth every penny. Good Luck with your trailer

Keith, that product kept the rig nice and shiny (after washing, of course)? Thanks for the information.
