Drip pan freezing in Norcold

Water was collecting in my Norcold. I found the problem was that the drip pan was full of ice. So I removed and dumped the drip pan, used compressed air to clear the ice from the drip tube.

I called my service man and he suggested pulling the tip out of the tube and putting the end back into the evaporator pan. His reason was that the opening in the tip is too small and lots of things can stop the flow in the tube at that tip and it would freeze up again.

I was glad to learn that is was not a function of how cold I set the thermostat or a malfunction of workings of the unit. Just a plugged tube and backup in the tray getting frozen.

Thanks for the tip, Stiles. Were your ears burning the other day? We were talking about you. We are in your old stomping ground but Vicki reminded me we can't get together with you and Dianna because you are up in the NW, maybe Washington State.

Yes, we are still on the East side of the Olympic Peninsula, about 15 miles south of Port Townsend. The "little church with a big heart" is starting to grow a bit. Visitors are coming and returning. These folks have developed a culture of warmth and friendliness and their attractive reputation is starting to spread. Sorry we can't get together.

This is a great area to be. Our winter has been milder than that of Texas. We have had only one day of snow and it melted by noon. I would never have imagined it would be so mild this far north.
