What tools are needed?
Since I am preparing to hit the road this summer, the subject of what tools to take with me has come up several times. Other than common screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets, A TORQUE WRENCH, hammer, nails, screws, cordless drill, bits, pliers, electrical tools (not that I would know how to use these), Elec tape, teflon tape, a small pipe wrench, hacksaw, carpenters saw (small), Can anyone suggest any SPECIAL TOOLS that I may be overlooking that may come in handy????
Thanks for the replies.....
Phil P.

There is a handy little gizmo, circuit tester. You plug it into the socket at the campground and it indicates whether you have the right polarity. Radio Shack carries an inexpensive electrical multitester that will fit into your shirt pocket. I carry a 10# sledge and an axe.
I have an array of screw drivers, but the handiest that I have is a "10 in 1" screw driver and small nut driver. This all in one tool has been extremely useful. As a matter of fact, I have one in the glove box of the TV and another in the RV. Heads include Robertson, Torx, Phillips and slotted.
I went to the RV repair shop and bought about 10 of each length of (stainless steel) Robertson screws used on the unit. Have a roll of duct tape and a bottle of Gorilla Glue. Several Water hose gaskets fit into the same little compartmentalized box with the screws( I found the box at my wife's sewing store). Same box holds extra fuses, at least one of every amp size in the RV.
I found a place for a 3' level, a framing square, an adjustable square, and a machete, all of which I already had. My wife had a hobby hot glue gun and sure enough, on one trip I needed it to repair some faulty factory glue job. So it goes with us.
I think there may be some more of those small items that have been handy, but it has been 18 months since I have even seen my Monty and it is hard to remember.

You know what I've always found handy? A Dremel tool. It can replace some saws (especially in tight areas), its great for cutting out boxes for adding light switches, grinds, etc. A Dremel kit is compact and so versitile it was my first tool added to the RV.
Glenn, with all those tools selected where's the room for the paper plates?

I carry the very basic tools; screw drivers, pliers, wrenches, hand saw, torque wrench and the 800 number for my extended warranty, roadside assistance, and Onstar.

I carry one of thse fold up shovels, At least twice thisyear we had to dig out a trail through the snow, Also it came in very handy when heavy rain started eroding around our front landing gear, All this in additioin to cleaningup a few sewer spills.

One of my favorites is a Fiskars retractable pruning saw ($10 at Sears!). Great for pruning branches etc. or cutting up small firewood. Very sharp. Have one at home, one on Tana, and have given several as gifts. Great value and very small.

Ok, throw in the fold up Gorilla ladder. I must admit to hauling around a set of standard and metric sockets in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drives with standard and deep sockets. I, too, have found many uses for the Dremmel tool.
