I had a 96 7.3 PSD and when my CPS failed I went to the local International Harvester Dealer. Saved me over $90 versus what the Ford dealer wanted for the identical part. In fact, the box the part came in had both the International and Ford part numbers listed.

Mine went out and was replaced. It was an intermittent problem though. Would turn a corner and it would die. Start off from a stop and die. Always restarted right away though. Happened to me 3 or 4 times & took it in to the dealership.

For those interested, you can normally pick these up on eBay brand new, in factory sealed package for between $50.00 to $55.00. there's one listing there now for $48.00 on a buy it now.

Just do a search for Ford Cam Position Sensor.

I bought a new cam position sensor on Ebay several years ago and keep it in my glove box. I have about 120,000 miles on my truck now. I considered going ahead and replacing it on a nice clear day put the used but known good working spare back in my glove box just in case!
