Gas cash back credit cards

I'm sorry to bring this up AGAIN as I know it was extensively discussed a few months ago. But I have used every combination of words I can think of to do a search, and I cannot find it. Several of the forum members discussed what cash back cards they use and what the cash back percent is. I would appreciate it if someone could direct me to this thread.

This is where I found the thread. I have no idea if this is going to hi-light when I send, but I'll try it.

Here is one from Citibank that will give you 5% on gas purchases, groceries and prescription drugs. You have to buy gas at a gas station, groceries have to be purchased at a grocery store and drugs have to be purchased at a drug store. Example: Walmart sells clothing and household items as well as groceries and drugs, therefore the purchase made there will only give you 1%.

Also, on your first purchase you automatically receive 10,000 points which can be redeemed for a $100 gift card

Chase Rewards (800.945.2000)has a card that gives 5% back for gas, grocries. Citibank has reduced their rebates to 3%. and USAA Savings bank (800.922.9092) has a 10% rebate on fuel, 1 % on every thing else.

The gas company is getting wise to this cash back on credit card purchases, so now many stations have a different higher price for credit card purchases.

The gas stations are trying recover the fee that all credit card companies charge for the right to accept a credit card. This fee has absolutely nothing to do with the cash back feature. The Cash back costs the stations nothing.

We use the Chase card for the 5% fuel cash rebate. This is a CASH rebate and not a credit towards your balance or some other purchase. With a price of 3 bucks a gallon this amounts to a 15 cent per gallon savings. Now throw in the 1 cent a gallon at Flying J and we are saving quite a bit. As full timers that 16% mounts up rather quickly.

Glen, Flying J's discount on gasoline is 1 cent but on diesel it is half a cent. I still don't understand why.

The more you spend inside the stores at Flying J the more save on diesel at the pump.

I chose the airline card over the cash back card. Since I love to travel, having a way to travel for free during the winter months sure out weights the few dollars I would get back on a "cash back card". Just my opinion....
