3400RL dining room slide black outside floor cover

Love this forum. Great advice, Tips and knowledge.

I looked through the posts and didn't see anything quite like my problem so here you go:

on the bottom of my 2012 3400RL there is a black plastic cover. I noticed a discoloring of the carpet and a slight depression in the carpet on the side of the slide closest to the door. Went underneath and looked and there is a patch of "glue" that was grabbing the carpet. Appeared close to pulling the carpet up when the slide goes out. Bought some slide out slides after a comment from this forum. when I put them down and ran the slide, the slide out slide had sticky black marks on it.

after looking closer at the underside I was able to determine that there was a 5 inch wide strip of plastic that was adhered to the bottom of the slide ( perhaps they damaged or cut it and sealed it) There are no other strips like these anywhere on any other slide. It appears that they didn't extend the strip far enough to wrap it around the inside lip. as near as I can tell the front edge came loose and the sticky started getting caught and now some of the strip is removed and the sticky is exposed causing issues.

two things - anyone experience this before? fixed how? 2nd - anyone have to replace the black plastic on the underside of a slide? what do you use and how do you attach it. some pictures attached.

The pattern almost looks like a wear pattern so I was looking for some roller or other issue. but you can see at the outside edge a faint outline of the end of a the strip. There is no matching strip when you pull up the carpet on the inside so they stopped it short.

Your slide should ride on a white plastic wear bar that runs the whole length of the slide. The black Darco covering should be one piece with no seams. It looks like yours was damaged by something caught under the slide floor when it was moving. My guess is someone put some kind of tape on to cover the damage and the friction of rubbing the wear bar pulled it off. With the slide 1/2 way out, look between the slide bottom and the camper floor for something that does not belong there. I would not worry too much about it since it should not get wet from the bottom.

I have the same problem. I have patched it but it does not stay. The Darco material has one sticky side that adheres to the plywood.

Thanks beeje,
I am the original owner of the unit. So it must have been damaged during assembly and they "repaired" it. I have the white slide strip and it looks in good shape. I have looked while it is partially open and on first inspection didn't notice anything, but will try again. If I can figure out how to get a repair strip that comes into the trailer and up around the leading edge inside I may be able to fix it. Thanks for the comment about not being a big deal. That helps, it is mor of a nuisance now that the strip has destroyed itself it has left a sticky adhesive that is grabbing the carpet. I may try goo gone to see if I can remove it and move on from their
