Another A/C question

When we turn on a/c the quick cool/quick dump (think that's what it is called) vents close, they won't stay open in our living room. The only way we can keep it open is to put a clothes pin up there to force it to stay open. At times we would prefer to have the majority of the a/c be in the living room. Right now we only have one a/c and will probably buy one for the bedroom next year.

Does this happen to others and if so how did you take care of this problem?

Has been for us too. I use a quick clip like you would use to close chip bags.

Mike ... they are referring to the A/C's before manufacturers went to the Whisper Quiet A/C's with the return duct and grills on each side of the ceiling like your prior 3 Montana's. The "regular A/C's have the return grill right in the middle of the rear ceiling under the roof mounted A/C unit itself. There is a shutter so to speak on the inside grill assembly that when opened, directs about 80% of the cold air straight down into the rear living area.

This is the grill on the older models. We leave the 'dump' grill just cracked open, and have most of the cooling sent through the round vents throughout the coach. Makes the noise level much lower, especially while watching TV.

Thanks, so now I know this is normal for the a/c. I originally thought that we had a problem with our unit....

This is what our ac in the bedroom has and when we slide the shutter sideways it stays that way until we close it. John

I think it should stay open, you shouldn't have to force it to keep it open. On our 2006 Montana it always stayed open. Thought that maybe something changed with the newer models... Yet others have the same issue too.

Thanks for responding....

Actually that's true for us also, it's only the living room that I have to use the clamp on.

Does your living room have the same type as rohrmann has pictured, or is it a different model? Strange that some have said that the bedroom stays open but not the living room...
