Main Propane feed

I had to finally refill a bottle during our last outing. I had some issues removing and replacing (especially replacing as it was heavier) the bottle due to how the main feed to the trailer was routed. I've placed a link to a picture below. The hose is routed around the road side bottle from the regulator to the pipe that feeds the trailer. You have to slide the bottle out of the loop and back through it when replacing it. I was curious if anybody elses was routed the same way?

Like you I would not be interested in threading the bottle through the loop in the hose. Would the hose be pliable enough to go behind the bottle?? Jim

Mine is the same way only the hose is a little shorter. The way it is set up I couldnt see any other way to route a hose. It is a little more trouble but it works.

My switch over is on the curb side, but I repositioned it a little higher as I have upgraded to 40# tanks on both sides. Originally the feed hose to the rig was routed in front of the tank and I was able to re-route it off to the side and ty wrapped to keep it out of the way so I wouldn't have to argue with it removing and replacing the tank.

Mine is exactly the same as your picture on the street side. With the hose disconnected, I loosen the bracket, lift the bottle up slightly and angle the bottom of the bottle outwards so the bottle clears the bottom lip. Then with one hand still near the bottom, reach I up under the hose, grasp the top of the bottle then angle it downwards to the ground. When it's empty I can do this easily. Reinstalling a full bottle requires me to raise the bottle and maneuver it behind the hose and raise into position.

I do prefer the other side that does not have a hose in the way. In that case I lean the top of the bottle outwards, then lift slightly to clear the bottom lip, then lower gently to the ground. Opposite motion to put it back.

In either case I can't imagine doing this with 40# bottles. My 50# Honda generators seem easier and lighter to put in the back of the truck.

My '06 is not like that, all hoses are behind the bottles. Seems a strange way to run a hose....

Thanks for the responses. When I replaced the bottle, it was in the low twentys so the hose wasn't very flexible so I had to do like Art described. Sounds like they have been routed a couple different ways.

Try this: Unscrew the regulator, (the two sheet metal screws) Then turn the regulator counter-clock-wise 3/4 turn. There is enough slack in the hose to do that. This will allow the looped hose (in front of the tank) to be flexible enough to lay flat behind the Propane bottle. Then screw the regulator flange back onto the metal wall.
