Electric Awning on 2015 Montana-Adjustment
I went through all the papers that came with the Monty but could find nothing about adjusting the angle of the awning. I would like to have a little more down angle if possible. There is one knob on each support end. It looks like it can be loosened and then to let the rod slid in or out? Is this for adjusting the angle downward of the awning?
Thank

Yep ,I do it all the time sometimes when it rains I will pull one side down and tighten the knob to let the rain drain OR I will tighten both when it is a little windy to make the awning more stable OR like you said to adjust both sides so it comes down more... FYI DO NOT forget to loosen the knobs back up before you hit the switch to pull the awning back up and also lube the slides and knob every once in a while too

I have never played with these knobs. Are you saying that when you retract the awning the knob need to be on the looser side?
Thanks

Yep, because if you do not and they are Cinched down tight your awning will not roll up or if have just one side tightened down when you hit the switch it will roll up crooked

I am sure glad I asked about this first. Went out and checked the knobs, they were just a little snug, backed it off a little and gave all the joints a little silicone spray for good behavior!
Thanks

Great info. I also had no idea how to "tilt" awning because there was no manual included and I didn't want to just play around with it.
This is why I monitor this site every chance I get. And to think ...I could have been doing the angled awning for the last several months if I had of just asked an expert!
Thanks guys

I'll tell you that when we purchased our first Montana in 2005 finding this forum has saved my bacon many times. Many times I will just browse the active topics and you never know what tid-bit you can pickup.

The one issue with the Dometic awning is if you are somewhat vertically challenged, like me, you have to get on a ladder or picnic table to reach the forward knob to change the pitch. Also makes it that much more difficult to get it down quickly in the event of a storm. Will be bringing that subject up at the rally in Sept.

Yep I am 6-2 and I cannot reach the forward knob either when it is extended but we always have a little fold up plastic step ladder in the rv for my vertically challenged Wife to reach some cupboards

St. Clair Sailor is correct. If you need to get the awning in quickly, it can be a race, including pinched fingers). If I see any chance of inclement weather, I get it loosened up, or bring it in.

I agree about the height. I can't reach the awning to put anything in the track, like a screen. Guess I have to carry a ladder.

Loosen the knob, grab the awning arm and pull down, tighten the knob to keep it there. John

I could retract my angled awning on my 2012 REDWOOD and keep my angle for my next time I opened awning.

Yes, Redwood use Care Free awning while Montana still use Dometic, different system for angling the awnings.

Poor system
Blows fuse it try to open or close both at same time. Can’t set at permanent angle like REDWOOD we had.
