Hoping to make it to the 28th

The last thing we needed to add to our "Home Base" is a tornado shelter. We've had a drop in one on order for some time, but as you can imagine demand is high. We finally got a delivery/installation date of June 28th. Now we just have to hope that's not too late (there is a church basement 2 blocks away but we're out in that area where they tend to start so in the yard is much better). So far we've been lucky. Quarter size hail reduced to pea size when it got to us the other night and the tornados haven't been real close. On the other hand we've seen pictures of three rigs destroyed in Kansas and another in Oklahoma and they don't seem to fare well. On the other hand, with the tornados we're having out here this year brick homes aren't faring much better.

Stay safe Dick, we hope that shelter comes soon. It bet you'll sleep better with it close by. We know your feeling, recently had to take shelter in a nearby hospital

I have been wondering how you folks have been holding up in the Midwest. I have been talking to the wife about how I would have a shelter very close to my front door if we still lived in Mn. We have not had to sit out any bad weather while traveling in our trailer but I am sure it could be a very nerve racking experience. So we are praying for all members living or traveling around the heartland of these states.

Stay safe, Dick. It is an uneasy feeling knowing unpredictable weather prevails. In " old warrior" terms, " keep your head down"!

Good luck and be safe. We need to take a short trip back home to central Missouri ASAP to access the damage from a recent storm in our area. From what I can see in my security cameras, it doesn't look too bad, but we can see some damage to one of our out buildings.

It's been a little rough depending on exactly where you are.

Sending many thoughts of safety to you and your family Dick. Our Daughter and Son-In-Law live in Oklahoma City and we have been going crazy worrying about them lately.

Scott, you have to be on pins and needles. I can't remember a year when they've had so many in a row.

Dick. We are hoping, according to the reports that we hear up here, that the worst of the season should pretty well be past soon. Although, what is normal when it comes to the weather anymore. Those tornado preparations that you do are kind of foreign to us Canucks up here, stay safe indeed!!!

Is it large enough to keep the Montana safe as well?
Bingo

Didn't have enough money for that size. We did move it to the other side of the lot when we got to thinking about where the Monty might land. You can't ever tell with these things, but placing the shelter where it looked better was trumped by moving it to a place less likely for the debris of the Monty, vehicles and a big tree to land on.

About two months ago I (nearly) finished a tornado shelter in the basement of our S&B home. All that's left to complete is the door. I used plans off the FEMA website. Stay safe out there DQ & Fam, it can be scary living in the Midwest in the Springtime!
