KOA Kennebec SD flood

We drove from Rapid city to Kennebec today but they told us we couldn't stay because the creek right next to the CG was expected to overflow late tonight and they expected about 5 ft in the CG. We were disappointed That we had to drive an additional 30 miles but glad they were more interested in safety than in making money. We don't usually stay at KOAs because they can be pretty expensive and a lot of them out east are older and very tight on the roads. But this was above and beyond as far as we are concerned.. Good Job KOA Kennebec SD...

That was very nice of them, but this year if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all.

Glad you found out in time. Floating down the river in that Big Sky would not be fun.

We have stayed at Kennebec a couple of times. Once the flood waters were starting to drain as we were pulling in. The management of this campground is helpful and always freindly. We often use KOA when moving from the midwest to Seattle but then again we are doing that trip on a limited time budget but that will change as we retire July 2013.
