Black Tank Vent Humming?

We have a 2009 Montana. I emptied all tanks today.

Sometime after emptying (I think) we notice an electronic-type humming, mainly in the bathroom.

When you depress the flush pedal on the toilet and the ball/flapper thingie opens as it does in flushing, the humming stops while the ball/flapper thing is open with your foot on the flush pedal.

Release the flush pedal and the humming starts again.

It is a constant, steady hum, not leaves blowing in the wind or anything like that.

After flushing tanks, the black was 1/3 full, then later 2/3 full and now shows full. The two gray tanks are at empty. Of course, the silly black tank sensor has never worked correctly.

Any thoughts on the humming?

Thanks!

Any chance your black flush water connection is moving water?
If so you will flood the black tank.

Is your water pump switch turned on with an empty fresh water tank?

Just a thought.

No to all of the above.

Bear with me, please. It is the wee hours of the morning and we have just been awakened to a flood in the bathroom, bedroom and hallway - and basement.

There has been a drip in the basement that has not been traced and we know believe that drip is related to this flood.

This is just one of almost 20 issues with this rig, this being the most major - so far.

We are livid and now at the point of getting a lawyer.

My 8-year dream is going up in smoke - well not smoke yet - but rather, drowning it appears.

Anyone know a good RV Lemon Law attorney? We purchased the rig in Texas.

Are you sure the black tank flush is not hooked up to the city water or that the fresh water tank fill is in the fill position (actually even that should should overflow the outside fill opening)?? I cannot believe that a drip in the basement would lead to a flooding situation, the humming tends to steer one towards the black tank flush as John said earlier. If you turn the campground water off, does the humming stop???? I feel for your situation as others have had experiences similar to yours, but the majority of the time it has been traced to improper use of the black tank flush??

It does sound to me like the water supply is connected to the black water tank flush valve? Sorry for your dilemma as you do have a mess to deal with. Let us know what you find out!

It could be a leak in the flush pedal valve itself somehow, but one would think that if that were the case, the bowl would overflow instead of filling up the holding tank. That would have to be a pretty serious leak to fill, and overflow an empty black tank overnight though. Was the black tank full the next morning?

I guess the prudent thing to have done would have been to shut off the water supply to the RV until the next morning, and investigated the problem in the daylight. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Sorry for your problem.
