Ram 3500 oil and filter change
Took the tow vehicle in yesterday to the dealer in Reno, NV, and told them even though it says I still had 45% oil life left, that I wanted to change the oil and filter, since I had gone 10,000 miles and pulling the 3820FK most of those miles. They said OK, but I should change the fuel filters as well, so I said go for it. I come back, and it took twice as long as they said, and then he felt bad and took $50 off my bill, so the bill was $380. It would have been $430!! Is this right? $430 to change the oil, and oil and fuel filters? Plus when it was all done, the service manager, and the the guy that was helping me, and the tech who worked on my truck, said they had something to show me. I go out, and my brand new truck has a 2 foot long gouge on the fender!!. They said they would take care of it for me??? WTH!! Anyway, I'm sure they will repaint the whole back left fender, but is $430 right for this service?

I am not all that sure about a Dodge but my 2015 Ford F-350 having the same service was $312.00 with a tire rotation and a wash job. But if I paid more I guess I could have got the scratched fender. (Sorry just had to go there).

My Silverado 2500 duramax was about $120 for oil and filter change with Rotella. This was at both a Chevy dealer and an independent Rayco. I didn't do the fuel filter this time, but as I recall it is expensive - maybe $100-150, but I may be off here.

I just had the oil, 2 fuel filters and a tire rotation on my 2016 3500 for just under $400. The big ticket item is the 2 fuel filters on that year. And they typical charge you in the neighborhood of $80 each for the filters and that doesn't count 1.2 hours of labor. If you go online, you can probably find Mopar fuel filters for $70 a pair. And there is many videos on line that goes step by step on replacing. The frame mounted filter isn't so bad but the one on the engine requires you to be flexible but not impossible. I am changing my own next time.
Sorry to hear about the scratch in the fender.

RAM filters are expensive, buy online but get OEM. I just changed both of mine myself. The one on the frame over the driveshaft will provide you with a diesel fuel shower no matter what you do to try to prevent it. Smelled like diesel for a couple of days and clothes still reek. DIY joys.

Yeah, I was told I could do these services on my own by the service writer, but he said to make sure and record the dates and mileage, and keep your receipts. He said right when I was there, a guy was there with need of a new diesel motor, and he had never taken it to a dealer and did not keep records, so the service writer said RAM will probably not cover the new 20k motor!!

My 17 3500 cost just about the same for oil, filter and fuel filters. Fuel filters are expensive but I'd rather stay with Mopar parts the after market. I am a maintenance supervisor for a fleet of about 700 vehicles, and very often we have issues with after market filters of all types. No issue with warranty if manufacturers parts are used. Also, with over 150K ties up in a truck and fiver, 400$ isn't a problem.

I believe I would have told them that the oil and fuel filter change was now "On The House" after they damaged my truck like that and they would add another one for good measure too!
I was recently at my dealer for a oil change and tire rotation and they damaged 3 of my 4 aluminum rims. Made them replace the 3 damaged rims with new ones and throw in 2 more oil changes also.

They charge you by the hour for labor which is ok but how about your time for having to take your truck in for body repair. Your time is just as valuable as there's.As for as the fuel filters, they use to be a little over 100.00 for the pair but have now come down to around 70.00 per pair. I use fleetgard oil filters which is recommended by cummins and Shell Rotella full synthetic which is about 70.00 for 12 quarts in one gallon jugs at Wal-Mart.So you are looking at about 140.00 for oil and filter change if you do it yourself. The mopar oil filters at wal-mart are less than 10.00 so you might save a little on them. When you change the fuel filters just be sure to open the pet-cock so as to not be to messy and be sure you use a container that will hold more than the 12 quarts you will be draining out of the motor. You can pour the old oil in a 5 gallon can and take it back to wal-mart for recycle. P.S. Don't forget the rubber gloves.

can`t make this stuff up
My Ford with T6 Synthetic oil and filter with fuel filters comes in at $167.80. It really is easy to do and look at all the money you`ll save that you can spend on dinners out or camping spots or buy your wife a necklace for no good reason, believe me that goes along way.

Just had a oil, oil filter, air filter change, was $125. MY 12 only has 1 fuel filter, I change my self every 15k miles.
Now, on the truck damage, that will probably show up on a car fox report and will result in a lower trade in value. Not only have them fix the damage, write a check for $1000 for decreased value.

Our '16 3500 came with free oil changes for first 60,000 miles so I don't yet know what the cost is. Fuel filters come from Amazon at less than half dealer's charge. Dealer charges around $100 for labor to change.
