unsecuring dining room table

Has anyone unscrewed from the floor the dining room table in a 3400RL and left it that way when traveling ? Problems ??

I unscrewed ours to move it slightly away from the window so we could move the shades up and down. But I screwed it back down in its new location (about 3 inches out). There are some on this group that have unscrewed the table and moved it around and travel with it loose. They haven't reported any problems.

Dan,
Sound good to me but 1 or 2 more question, do you secure the table to the chairs or anything ? Any issue with the table banging into the window or counter and leave any damage or marks ?
Thanks,
Kim

We unscrewed ours from the beginning so we could get the shade up and down. We do not screw or tie table or chairs. The table doesn't move. The chairs all (5) have stuff in the seats and none of them move. We traveled thousands of miles with our previous unit and never tied or screwed table or chairs with no problems.
Happy trails.................

I do not secure the chairs while traveling. I had unscrewed the table and moved it out 3 inches so I could also get to the window and blinds easier. All 4 of my chairs at the table and my computer chair stand upright unsecured while traveling and have not had any trouble yet.

Good Evening Dave,

I have just purchased an 06 3400RL that is due to arrive the 2nd week in Nov. In looking at your rig picture, it seems that the 2500 is riding fairly level. According to early 2004 trailer specs, the hitch weight of the 3400RL was supposed to be around 1770#. Do you know what the actual hitch weight was/is? And, are you using additional suspension such as air bags?

I am currently towing a 98 Cardinal with a loaded hitch weight of around 2200# and my 2500HD is just a small hair saging in the rear. The 2006 3400RL's are currently speced at 2165# empty hitch weight, and will easily be upwards of 2500# loaded.

We not only unscrewed our table we took it out, Replaced it with one that folded down on both sides. That way we could get to the back of the trailer with the slides in. Put the old one back when we sold it.
We had no problems.

Rick,
Congrats on your soon to be new coach! Oh how I remember the day my 3400RL came in. =) I am not running air bags or any other suspension mods on my rig. The truck squats approx. 2" when loaded and road ready, with the hitch weight coming in right around 2,180lbs. The coach weighed 1,820lbs from the factory. I have added some more "stuff" inside the basement since that picture was taken so I could imagine add another 150lbs to the kingpin. Truck still rides the same, as when the pic was taken. I wonder what the big change in the 2006 was that would increase the kingpin weight by 395lbs? Again, enjoy your new coach.

We have a 2980RL and unscrewed ours and moved it 90 degrees. Didn't bother to screw it down again and it has gone nowhere!

In the 3400 the table really can't go anywhere. When the slides are in, it is right up against the island. We raise those blinds so if it moved an inch or so toward the window it wouldn't hurt the blinds. I can hardly move this thing so I don't see how it can move that much plus it is close to or over the wheels which should help also.
Happy trails.....................

We unscrewed ours as soon as we got it. We turn our table 90 deg. so the length is running the same way as the couch. This way we can walk through easily when all the slides are in. We don`t tie the chairs either and they don`t move at all. Thats the beauty of a centre kitchen things don`t move much when traveling.

We have unscrewed ours from the floor. We still tie the chairs to the table but so far nothing has moved in transit.
