Klamath Falls KOA

We just spent a night in the Klamath Falls, Oregon KOA. Great park, great people, close to shopping and resturants, bike path, gas and diesel (cheap fuel prices). Very nice grass and shade, most sites can handle the biggest rv's. A little hard to find but worth the effort.

Have you tried Collier State Park just north of K Falls? It is not close to shopping but it is a nice park and very interesting logging museum. I do note gas prices are cheaper in Klamath than they are in Medford and I wonder why. They are sneaking back up but not as bad as in Mount Shasta the other day.

The Collier State Park is nice and the Water Wheel RV park on the Williamson River near Chiloquin is supposed to be good also.

Barb's mom lives about 6 blocks from the KOA so it is handy for us and we took her to the fireworks show at Veterans Park Monday night. Great show and good music.

Mt Shasta has always been high and Weed used to be higher, but that new So Weed area has created some competition. Wasn't bad up at Coos Bay a couple of weeks ago $2.17 p/gal. I paid the same in Ashland on the 25th at Pacific Pride. Yreka Pacific Pride was $2.53 about the same time.

Ashland would be the highest in this area of Oregon. Our diesel is now creeping up to $2.40 and regular is almost $2.50 in Medford. The coast is cheaper, and in all the years we have lived here (26+) that has not been the case. Strange times. There has been much talk the last few years about some type of price control here and I believe it at this point.

The Water Wheel campground is just a few blocks south of Collier. It is OK if you like the wide open spaces vs. the trees. Both are on the Williamson River.

We stayed at the Water Wheel RV Park near Chiloquin last year for 2 nights. Vicki's notes are --

Nice park with central modem but only during office hours and the office phone line. (very limited in other words). No cable TV. Well water with occasional sulfur smell/taste. We noted we would stay there again but only for short term.

That's just our opinion of the park. Also, it's a long ways from any shopping but closer to Crater Lake than was Klamath Falls, which was our goal.

If you are ever in the area again try Collier state park. It is a little further up 97 but very nice. There is also a shortcut to 62 close by. http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_228.php

Thanks. I've saved the link. We would like to go back to Crater Lake when we can drive the rim road. The time we were there it was still under 8 to 10 feet of snow (in May last year) so we could get only to the rim by the Visitor Center.
