Magic Jack

Do any MOCers use this? I am afraid that the internal software that continually puts advertisements on your computer will cause problems. The price sounds to good to be true. Any reports of personal experience using Magic Jack would be appreciated. I also understand that there is no uninstall utility for the software if you decide that Magic Jack is not for you???!!!

We tried using Magic Jack, and it works quite well IF you have a hard wired high speed Internet connection, otherwise we found it to be pretty much useless and frustrating.
We haven't used it for almost a year and didn't get any pop up ads then, and I just left the software on my hard drive.

We used it for a year also and had no more or less pop ups. We use the air card for our internet access and it seemed to "skip" or miss a lot of the words - couldn't carry on a conversation. We now use Skype and it seems to work very well. We got a webcam and can now see as well as talk with our grandkids. The only expense for us was the webcam.

Skype here, too. However, the quality of the video depends on the quality and consistency of the internet connection. But much of the time it works well. And the price, free, is right!

Ron, you are right... your avatar picture does not really look that much like you.
