electric switch died on the hot water heater

...so...now's the time to move it inside where I can see and switch it.
I'd like to use a lighted rocker switch and mount it in a cabinet wall.

Two questions...what gauge wire would I need to extend this to the inside (about 2-3 ft)?
And what (rating?) lighted switch would work?
It has a dedicated 15 amp breaker I believe...might be 20, but I think it's 15.

I just put one in my Big Sky. Went to my local electric supply store and bought a LITE ON 20 amp. switch. I mounted it on the wall next to the hot water tank. There was enough slack in the wiring to the tank to cut it and wire in the switch. MAKE SURE YOU WIRE THE SWITCH IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. The guy at your electric supply store can tell you which terminal to wire the hot wire to coming from the power source. I would give you the make and model # of the switch I installed, but I just threw the box away a few days ago. If you have any trouble finding one, I can find out for you. Keystone ought to pony up and do this at the factory. I am making this suggestion to my factory rep. Kerry

Man...how confusing was that?? I needed the long distance help of my brother who has been in electronics for years to figure out that third wire for the light. I never would've gotten it.
Anyways, it works, all switches together, and all I need to do is pull the wires in, make a harness, and mount it up. Whew!
