My son-in-law has been working some crazy hours so he has not come over yet but I have checked and the controller is getting power.

Given how this slide just started in on its own got me to wondering if it is the controller itself that is shot. Does anyone have a feel for how likely that is?

Is the controller flashing when you try to operate the slide?
If so, count the number of flashes to determine the fault. First it will flash one or two times to indicate which motor, then up to 8 times to indicate the fault.
Those codes are printed on the label for the contoller.
You can also press the reset button 6 times and hold on the 7th to manually override it and bring the slide in unless a motor has failed completely.

I finally was able to get an assist with the slide. He said that one motor was showing an error (red light) and the other was good (green light). He put it in override mode and it came in but that was not where we needed it for now as we are stationary. So I ran it back out but it kept wanting to come in so we just put it out and then disconnected the power for now. I will need to get a mobile RV tech out to fix it.

Thanks everyone for sharing their knowledge. It helped a lot!

Did you by chance find out how many flashes were showing on the faulted controller? That may help evaluate what's wrong.
