Can’t unlock door

I just bought a 2017 high country and I’m locked out. Is there a trick with the 2 keys and locks?

For ours, the purple key unlocks the door. The grey keys do the basement doors.

Did you try the upper and lower locks?
One is the handle lock. If locked the handle won't move.

The other is the dead bolt.
If the dead bolt is locked and the handle is not, when you pull the handle it will release the door latch and the door will move a little before it hits the dead bolt.

On my previous camper the lock actually failed. I pulled the key out, but the tumblers did not unlock the door. We were over 300 miles from home, tired, and been driving all day. This wasn't fun.

Pulled into a KOA and got my handy-dandy tools out. Found a piece of wire. Fortunate, I'd earlier been watching YouTube videos on how to pick locks (had had to do that on a fire proof safe ... really!) So, I applied the same principles and after some jimmying around, it unlocked. I still do not know what I "really" did to get it to open. But we did not lock it back. We were back home the next day and I went straight to my RV dealership and picked up a new lock set.

But here's the incident that took me completely off guard. Get ready for a laugh:

I think I read on here someone call a locksmith and they drilled out the lock somehow. You wouldn't be lucky and have left a window lock unlatched??

The locks are relatively inexpensive. A screw driver and a hammer can be used to defeat the lock.

Just to be clear, it's the deadbolt that is locked?
The key just spins?
The handle does pull?

The handle doesn’t move nothing spins it I can hear the deadbolt going in and out but that’s it. The top one doesn’t have any noise

We thought ours was locked but it wasn’t. The latch was actually catching on the door frame. A big screwdriver or small pry bar between door frame and door popped it loose. As stated above, you need to determine which or both locks are the issue. If there is another Montana near you, look to see if key slot should be vertical or horizontal.

My deadbolt quit once on me. I was outside with my family and daughter. By a lucky break, I had not latched the rear emergency exit window or maybe just the window. So I was able to slide the window open, my daughter (age around 32 at the time climbed in with some help, and checked things out. I handed her a screw driver and she took the lock apart. Got it open and turns out a screw inside the lock had come out. Just put the screw back in and all was good.
By the way, I no longer lock the deadbolt at all!!

Going along with what Pam Bates said the striker is known to get wedged in the striker plate. The pry bar, in this case, a claw hammer, was placed under the door handle and pried outward. I would not pry between the door and the door frame as it may be damaged for life. I'd first try leaning your shoulder into the door right below the lock, like you are trying to force it shut, takes some pressure off the striker, then operate the handle. It'll take some serious pull on the handle. If that works, once opened lubricate the striker and striker plate with some dry lube. If that doesn't work the claw hammer would be my next choice.

I got locked out of mine once; keys inside. Handle was locked, dead bolt open; same situation you have. I took a large pair of channel locks, pulled the handle towards open, knowing I would break something. It did. Then I installed an electric lock set.

i keep a key stashed in the lp tank compartment on the tank strap.

I found out the hard way. If you lock the handle by mistake when the door is open, the door will close and latch just fine. If you are outside and your keys are inside while you perform this maneuver........
