Dodge 3500 2005/06
Comparing the Dodge 3500 ,600 turbo/ automatic trans with Ford 6.0 5 speed automatic. Has Dodge cleaned up issues with torque converter with updated trans? How has 600 turbo performed.
Any comments would be appreciated.

I purchased my 2005 2500 HD 610 Dodge Cummins TD about 2 months ago and have to say so far it's one of the best trucks I have owned. I have had absolutly no problems with it so far. Pulled our 327RKS and got between 12 and 14 MPG at 70 MPH and it was like the TT wasn't even back there. Solo I get between 19 and 24 MPG on the highway just depending on my speed. The 2500 HD and 3500 Dodge have the same motor and tranny (auto), at least the ones I looked at on the dealership lot (Daytona Dodge). I have noticed no slipping - no problems with the tranny what so ever. I have to say that IMHO it's a dang good truck and one of the strongest non-commerical trucks I have driven. Now you have my two cents.

I have a 2005 3500 Cummings, now with 12000 miles and have not had any problems whatsoever. MPG towing our 3575RL has been between 12-13 MPG and driving unloaded has been between 16-17 mpg.
I had a 2003 2500 Cummings before this truck and had no problems with the tranny after 42000 miles.

I have an 04 3500 Cummins 600, and i plow with mine in the winter, which is rough on the tranny, and I tow my 3650 RK in the summer. I have 22K miles on it, and have not had any tranny problems what so ever, period.

A bit of an update. We just got back from our vacation... my mileage has dropped a bit. Averaged 10.5 mpg going home. But, it may be caused be the fact that most of it was uphill, going from the coast in Maine to upstate NY.

We have 5500 miles on ours about half of that towing and mostly in mountains. Transmission has performed beautifully. No slip no problems. I understand there was a thrust washer problem prior to 05 that was addressed on the 05's
