Just thought I would say Hello and make my first post. My wife and I bought a 2011 Montana 346LBQ in Februrary. WE have had it out twice this year and love it! I am in the process of getting Air Bags here to put on my truck. I'm also going to purchase a TST 507RV system. I have heard a lot about the Marathon tires being trash. I hope a TPMS will at least alert us before a catastrophe until I can replace all 4 tires. Anyway Hello All!

Welcome to the forum. This is an outstanding source of great information. The landscape in your picture looks familiar - where in Utah? And you might consider applying the dollars for your TPMS toward new tires rather than the other way around. A new member on here had a blowout the very first time out. I would get the new tires pronto and then save for the TPMS. IMHO.

What Tires do you recommend? I'm hoping the TPMS will warn me of a change in tire pressure or Temperature. This way I might be able to pull over before a blowout actually occurs and change the problem tire. I'm thinking about changing out to better tires as they go bad if they do. Maybe this is a bad idea. Any advise would be great thanks!

Welcome to the forum. The first thing you need to do is crawl under your rig and see what the dates are on your tires. Goodyear says ST tires should be replaced after 5-7 years so yours are nearly done if they were new when Keystone put them on the rig, but that isn't necessarily the case. Our tires were a year old on our rig from the factory. You need to know the weight of your rig to know what tires you need, but your rig may be light enough to use a good LT tire that you could find on sale.

If you have 110 psi rated rims, which you probably do (usually stamped on the back of the rim) then Goodyear 614s or Sailun 637s. I went with Sailun at about half the price, but again, there is a post here in the tire section about a great price on the Goodyears. Like I said, you'll find a wealth of information here. And IIRC, TPMS has not really helped in detecting Marathon failures, and you are facing a lot of potential damage to the rig if one blows. I could not find a documented failure of the Sailun.

Welcome to the forum from Sunny Eastern Washington. Congratulations on your new unit. I also agree that high quality tires can help provide peace of mind. I also run airbags as I installed them when I had an Arctic Fox camper., you will like them.

Thanks for all of the input. I will try to get my tires replaced asap! Hopefully the Sailuns are good tires as those are what I'm leaning toward. Gald to be a part of this forum!

Welcome to the MOC from a fellow Utahn. So much info here it could take years to read it all. DITO on replacing the tires on your rig. I had marathons on my 5er with way less than 10k on them. I was lucky, as I was backing into my drive after a trip there it was steel belts slashing through the tire, loosing air fast. the belt had chipped a little of the tire skirt, so I did better than many others. Like the TV ad says...tires are the last thing between you and the road.
Congrats on your purchase! I am sure you will enjoy your new trailer.

Welcome and you are smart to replace the tires. Tires are the main topic here every year blown ST tires that is.

When we bought ours, I made the same decision to wait on tires because of all the other expenses buying our first 5th wheel, such as a hitch and other assorted items that became necessary. Like you, I went with the TPMS so as to at least be alerted if something happened. That decision nearly cost me as I found a baseball sized bubble on the inside sidewall of one tire upon arriving home after the last trip that year. The Montana had G614's on it before it rolled out of the yard again. Welcome to the MOC. You'll love your new Montana and this is the best place to get answers.

Welcome from sunny Colorado. As you learn to navigate the forum, you will find lots of great info. You can also use the Search function at the top. Tires have been probably the most discussed subject on the forum in recent years. Goodyear and Sailun are the most common recommendations. Also, take a look at the Regional Camping Club area. We have a great regional rally in September in Colorado. Come meet some of the interesting people from the MOC. Enjoy your new unit.
