Tire Pressure Monitor System
What type of TPMS do you suggest? We want to buy a system and just not sure which ones are good.

We've had both Pressure Pro and TST and both are good with good reputations for few problems and good customer service. We switched to TST when they came out with the monitors you don't have to take off to add or reduce air pressure. I like to get the tires ready to go the day before we leave a spot and so I'm under there with the slides out over my head. It's a lot easier and faster to just add or subtract air and not have to take the sensors on and off since each type has a locking device.

We have the TST TPMS. I like the small screen of the control unit that allows for many locations along the dashboard. I did install the repeater to allow for a more consistent reading from the rear axle tires. I have had my unit for three years and have replaced the tire sending units one time. I do not have the newer units that allow for battery replacement. The customer service has been excellent in my experience.

WE have the TST system and like it. I wish we had the new system that allows you to add or lower pressure without removing the sensors.

I use the TireMinder TMG400C Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
Super easy to use, just put the batteries into the transmitter caps, match to locations on your vehicle and RV, mount the receiver anywhere in your truck cab with the supplied suction cup unit and you're ready to go. The TMG400C will monitor up to 22 tires, it's wireless, batteries are a breeze to replace, and it also lets you know each individual tire's temperature. Alarms are both audible and visual.
I was concerned that I would need a repeater due to the distances, but I didn't, so I saved even more money.

I also had to add the repeater with my TST, but that's because we tow with a Maxie cab and there is a two story cat cage between the receiver and the rig with 60# of cats in the way. Hung the repeater in the back window and it works great.

TST is the way to go for us. Small receiver wireless and user changeable batteries on the transmitters. Save us twice on road hazard issues. Great insurance. Also, they monitor tire temperature in case a tire is starting to separate or go bad, sometimes the heat and friction precede a blow-out.

We are looking at mounting the repeater in the front storage unit and tying it into the marker light, like our back up camera. Any pros or cons ?

We put ours in the battery compartment of the 5th wheel, all you need is a hot and ground connection, not necessarily the battery posts.

We have used our Pressure Pro for the past 10 years. It works for us. New tire pressure monitors have new features that could be helpful. Bottom line--buy one and most important--USE IT! Safe travels.

Do It
Was walking my dog by the office of a camp ground when a new arrival came in. I was on the passenger side when he stopped and I saw that one of his rear tires was completely shredded. I got his attention and asked if I could help. He looked surprised.....he had no clue that his tire was destroyed! Went back to my rig and gave my Pressure Pros a nice pet.

Another suggestion. Check the TPMS website and see if they sell to commercial users. I think that is a good recommendation that the units can be used in demanding applications.

Pretty sure that Ford has offered it since 17. When you get that option I think all the parts and pieces along with the trailer camera come in an extra box that is not installed by the Dealership.

Just got an email from TechnoRV for discount on TST tire monitors. Great price.
