Formica Counters? in Montana?
does anyone here have a montana with 'formica' or laminate countertops in the kitchen?
we have been shopping for a 3075RL to replace our 2955rl. There is a 2006 3075RL with formica counters in Georgia. I have never seen a Montana with formica in the kitchen. If this is a base package feature, what else will be missing in this trailer?

I had Formica in my 2001 Montana. They changed and started using the laminate around 2006 or 7. All units now have laminate. We liked the Formica better since it was easier to maintain for us.

This is an 06 and it has laminate counters which i am referring to as the same as Formica.
I have only seen solid surface or Corian in Montanas
was the 'formica' included as standard with the corian being part of an option package?
if so, what else went with that package? I have not seen this camper in person yet.

I have a 04 / 2980 rl with a formica counter top. Thats what all montanas had for my model and year then. We are happy with the service it has given us. it's not as pretty as the solid serface type counter tops, but I don't have to worry about scratching it when we put a pan on the serface and slide it across it's top. a person dont even think about doing that with corian or simular type counter tops.
have you thought about doing Quorts, or Grannet if you are thinking about a change.

Our 1999 2850RK had formica counter tops and I'd trade the Corian in the new unit for the formica in a heartbeat!

I agree I would take the Formica in our 2003 Bigsky anyday over the Corian on our new one, the Corian looks great but you have to be WAY to carefull about scratching it

Keystone moved to the Corian which clearly is not as durable as the old formica countertops that were standard.

Corian is a trade name for solid surfacing materials made by Dupont. Many others out there like Fountainhead, Avonite or even formica's own solid surfacing. The actual compositions are trade secrets. Keystone says we have "solid surfacing" but not which type and I'm fairly certain it's not Corian. Solid surfacing typically runs double or more the cost per sf of the high pressure laminates it's replaces. Properly maintained and used with resonable care it's a fine product but to each their own. Good luck.

If my memory serves me correctly, when we were at the Boston rv show in Jan '04 there were 2 Montanas. One had p-lam counters and one had fiberglass that looked like solid surface. Young Cole Davis was the factory rep present and when I asked about the two different style tops he said it was a mid production change. I also believe the Mountaineer line made the change at a later date.
The 2004 we purchased had molded fiberglass top in the kitchen and p-lam on the bath vanity.
I am not sure why a 2006 Montana would have p-lam counters in the kitchen.
I say p-lam because Formica is a brand name and there are many brands of plastic laminate.

The corian can be fussy. Easy to scratch, but I bought a kit on Amazon that makes keeping it nice very easy !

Would love to know the name of the kit as well! Our Corian is black too and I already have a few small scratches on it! Please share if not a trade secret!

Mine scratches if you look at it!
I'd love the kit also. Seems I read a post somewhere about a product at home depot or lowe's that would remove the scratches form this Corian surface. Maybe someone who knows will chime in.
