Mt Rushmore MOC Rally?

Do I have the attention of the MOC friends in the location of Mt Rushmore. Are you interested in doing lunch right after the 4th, perhaps the 5th of July (still open to other suggestions)?

I am aware of 3 couples in the area. If interested please post here. I have a place in mind in Rockerville @ the GasLight Restaurant. Searchable by google or other search engines I guess.

Would be nice to put faces to names! Hope you all in area can come?

My apologies Helen. Thanks for your replies. Since no one said any different about time, let's keep it on the 5th and how about lunch -? 12 noon!

The place - the GasLight in Rockerville. We were there last year during the beginning of Sturgis Rally & they were able to serve all & make happy! At least the people we saw ..... From the bar area!!! Entertainment was there also!

So I'll watch for more interest. Otherwise see you there.

We will be in Rafter J Bar from July 1 and staying until 7/7. This might be a great deal. When we actually arrive and plan our week we will get back on and say ya or na.

So, Ozz.... we are at Rushmore Shadows!!! Bought into the Midwest Outdoor Resorts 3 years ago and this is our "home park" and we can stay here 14 days free! (with our low annual due). Also get ROD and C2C.

Where will you be staying Ozz? I think Helen & Bill will be here in your time frame!!! So put it out there and have another the week after ours!!!

We will be there. We are at Rafter J Bar space 215. See you all then if not sooner.

We will be going out and doing things most days but should be back by 5pm for happy hour, stop by if you get the chance.

I haven't a clue where to stay besides the Rafter J Bar. Is everything that expensive up that way? I will have to eat a bunch of free pancakes to justify the nightly rate. Maybe they will give me a dust pan and pooper-scooper and I can pick up Elk scat for them?
We saw a bunch of red dots on the Good Sam's Atlas around there, why did you 2 folks pick RJB?
Mynabird, we will see you and Helen and Bill up in that area.

We are at Flintstones Bedrock City in Custer (#78) with the grand kids. This is a great place for kids with lots to do, but if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here. We will be here until the 6th, but haven't planned past that yet.

Ozz, have no idea what the rate at Rafter is, drove thru last night, huge sites, very pretty. We could not get in, are at Fort Welikit on 89 just north of 16, which is a bit east of the middle of town of Custer.

Rates, believe Al said it was about $250 a week, full hookups. 50 Amp, water pressure seems to flux, water from well we think, water issues could be Tana, not sure, sometimes rather low, but, if I can get the dishes done and showers, we are good.

We are in probably the worst site in the park, Al got Big Butt stuck in the soft sand/gravel backing Tana in, came close to awning and trees, had to put mirrors in to clear trees. Neighbors home, we suspect they were watching with glee instead of offering to move their toad which frankly was in the way. One must remember BB is a gaser and is NOT 4 wheel drive. One of the hardest sites we have had to get into since owning Tana, although there was this one in Lake Charles Louisiana that was even closer, a monster of a challenge. But we gotter in here and in 98 degree heat!

Sounds like we are not happy here, WRONG. Campground is very pretty, hilly (yep!!) pines, some some outcroppings of rocks, scenic. White tailed deer in and cross the street. Over all, a nice park and we are comfy here. It is fairly quiet, got some families and kids in here for the holiday, tenters, nice to see families sharing and camping that way, brings back memories. We are close to Custer, a couple of grocery stores and restaurants. Pretty close to all the sites too.

Mucho cheaper than what we paid in West Yellowstone and we got into one of the cheaper parks there too. Shoehorned Tana into a site there, they let us park Big Butt in another campsite, that really is a pretty useless site anyway, so that worked too.

Anyway, there are options, get out that campground book and start calling some of those other places. Saw several where there are only maybe 20 sites, as of yesterday (holiday weekend) there were a few sites empty in most we saw.

Now, if we could get Mother Nature to shine on us,
