Cetane Boosters

Is anyone putting this stuff in your diesel tanks? Is it hype or does it help milage and lube better? Opinions please!!

I"ve used Diesel Kleen since the truck was new. I don't know if it helps milage, I'm using it for it's reported lube abilities. You will probably need to use something since the sulfur is going to be reduced in diesel in the near future. I've read a lot of opionions on the Dodge forums and most use some type of additive, If you decide to use one, check a farm supply store, the price may be lower.

Most diesel has all the things in it that your engine needs. I'd be very careful about adding anything. Check it out over on the diesel page. Sorry I don't have the address handy. You might check Glenn's link pages to see if he has it listed.

I use Diesel Kleen for the same reason Skip does. In the summer I use the gray bottle at the minimum recommended dosage (I think it raises the cetane level 3 pts instead of 6) in the winter I use the white bottle. I cant say for sure if it helps in mileage but the extra lubricity sure cant hurt.

I do not use anything. I figure since GM has not told me to use anything, I will stick with nothing. But times will probably change as they start using that biodiesel.

Gonfishin; I read somewhere that there's supposesd to be no difference between the two, somebody contacted the maker and they apparently said it's a marketing thing. Don't know for sure though. The Feds have mandated a significantly lower [from somewhere about 300-500 ppm to 15 ppm?] sulfur content in diesel, effective this year, also.

I use diesel kleen to keep the injectors clean, as I Ram only moves when we go rving. "DW is not a camper" Sometimes she will follow in the 2006 300C, so we have a nice ride when we get there. Ram will be 3 years old the 1st of Sept. and I only have 17,000 miles on it.
