Hello all
Wish we had found this site a few months ago, it would have helped us from making some mistakes. I've already learned a lot in the little time I have spent out here. We will be taking delivery of our new 3000RK next Tuesday - trading in our 2006 Cougar 243RKS (its a long story  .

Welcome Badgoat,
We've had our 2980RK for 2 weeks,Love it.
It is our 7th RV, Can't Wait for Spring, although we
do a fair amount of winter Rving, living on the West Coast.
I don't see a 3000Rk on Keystone's web site, Is it someting New?

Hi Wolfgang and Sue, welcome to the MOC family.
You have made a great choice in the 3000RK. The 3000RK is new to the Montana line for 2006 and is growing in popularity. It is so new that Montana doesn't show the floor plan online but I was able to find it. 3000RK Floor Plan
As I am about to become an RV salesman for the Montana AND the Cougar lines I would like to hear the story about the 2006 Cougar.

We are excited about getting our unit. My wife is working out of town 4 days per week and will be living in it up in Spokane, WA during that time. One of the reasons we chose this new model is that it has been tested to 0 degrees. Welcome aboard!! We just jumped on ourselves last week. We HAVE the 3000RK !!! I'ts our 1st one and unless they come up with something better, it will be our last one. We absolutely LOVE it! It's so perfect for us! We love to cook and the counter space in this one is huge! The two of us can be in the kitchen at the same time and not get in each others way. We've had ours for almost 3 months now, and have had several "interesting" moments - so we'll be glad to help you out.

By the way, we've got a get-together near Elko, Georgia on the weekend of March 31, 2005, if you're interested. It's always great to meet and share info with other owners. OK, here is the story on the Cougar. My wife is working in Spokane (about 100 miles from home) four or so days per week. We decided that we would set up a camper in a park for her to stay in, we could then also use it for camping. She figured a 24 footer with a slide would be big enough. The dealer showed us a 24 foot 2006 Cougar and indicated that with the polar package it would work fine down to the 0 degree weather we get in Spokane. We had problems with this unit right from the start. The furnace would stop working every few days. It would go into shutdown mode and all power had to be cut to get it started again. We took it back to the dealer to fix as well as well as a water leak under the unit. The dealer found the propane supply line twisted almost closed at the furnace and holes in a water line from stapels. We got the unit back again but still had the furnace problems as well as another water leak in at the bathroom vanity. That water leak was fixed, but they were never able to fix the furnace. It went out over one weekend when the temperatures went down into the low teens and our water lines froze. We also discovered that the drain valves for the grey and black tanks as well as the fresh water were right at the bottom of the sealed under belly with no insulation under them. Looks like they had started to freeze even before that last furnace failure. The cougar is definately not a cold weather camper. At that point my wife's frustration reached a point where whe wanted to get somethin else. We dealt with a different dealer this time - one that understood cold weather units. My wife, after spending two months in the cougar also decided that something bigger was in order. We looked at a lot of different units and then traded the Cougar in on the Montana. So far it has worked out great, no furnace problems and no freezing with extended single digit temperatures. The only problem we have had with this uit was a small leak on the city water line which the dealer fixed in the park we are set up in.

Glad you found the Montana. I, also, lived in our Montana while working for 10 months. We had another 5er before that we also used for work/live while away from home. The Montana is far superior to that unit. Hope you get to enjoy the Montana for fun as well as work.
