Extended warranty

I am about to purchase a previously owned tow vehicle. Its a 2000 Chev 3500, diesel, 4x4, dually with only 86000 kilometers on it.
Does anyone have an opinion on the purchasing of an extended warranty on this vehicle?
In my opinion it looks expensive and very limited in its coverage.

Nesta,

You've come to the right place for opinions. We got lots of those around here, and the cost is quite reasonable. Free

If my brain is working, I think you at about 55,000 mi. Not bad for a 2000. I would be leery of all the loop holes in the extended warranty. I think I'd get a good road service like Good Sam's and put some money aside for the possible break down.

Of course the Chevy Diesel guys will tell you it will never break, because after all, it's a Chevy.

Mike: Check the warranty on the diesel. I know the 2003 GMC has a 200,000 mile warranty as I just had the injectors replaced. ERS insurance which has come in handy a few times for my own stupid fault.
