tighter tolerances on Reese R20

I've had issues with my Reese R20 either not releasing the jaw handle or the jaw handle not falling down complete in the locked position when connecting. I called Reese and they said that this is now the new normal and it's because they have tightened up the tolerances. The tech said that both problems can be solved by removing the pressure on the jaws pieces (the ones with the gear teeth). That is what I've been doing by trial and error. i.e. just use the manual trailer brake and pull a little forward.

I struggled with mine at first, but because I'm new to 5th wheels, figured the problem was me. I got better at it over the course of the camping season last year. The tricks I learned along the way will be my starting point this season. This is definitely a learning process and, unfortunately, I didn't get out enough to establish any kind of general routine.
