What's the Difference?

Okay, I am going to show my ignorance here! In all our looking at 5th wheels and Montanas in particular, I never asked what the difference is between a Montana and a Big Sky Montana!! Enlightenment, please!

My sister (RC & Samanatha) have the Big Sky. We have the 04 3400RL. The difference in my opinion is the way it's deocrated inside. Decorated elegantly with more wood trim. I believe she has pictures posted somewhere under her profile. I don't know the price diff, but I like her's way more inside.

Just My Opinion!!

Thank you. I figured it was probably upgraded interior or something like that.

The single factor that we noticed was that the Big Sky models we saw all had a long non-opening window high up over the kitchen cabinets.

In my opinion it's most cosmetic and price

upgraded carpet is another item. The cost for a Big Sky is around $7000 to $8000 extra. You have to take into consideration how long you are planning on keeping your unit and the type of use it is going to get to decide whether it is worth the extra $.

I am not sure what all the differences are. I just like what I have. When the slides are out, it is roomy (6'2" & 250#). I can stand up in the bedroom. The 36" wide rollout tray across the basement holds a lot when organized well. When slides are in we can still use everything but the chest of drawers at the foot of the bed. We just bought what captured our fancy knowing that there will always be newer and fancier right around the corner. Whatever you decide just enjoy it to the max.

you can seperately purchase most upgrades in the regular model. at some point it must be cheaper to get the big sky. in the model I have (3685FL) it's not an option...there is no big sky, but it mind as well be...I bought almost all the upgrades...with the exception of the one's I didn't like.

All Montana's are built with vents in the roof, is that what you meant by Vented Attic, Gruffy???

I wish I had better quality carpet, and that sky window is pretty cool!!

Agree. All Montanas have vented attics. Both ours have had that.

Some of the things standard on the BS are extra cost options on the Montana, such as the high gloss exterior. But I've seen interior appts on the BS that are not available on the Montana even as an option.

By the way, I heard from a Keystone rep the Big Sky is going away in favor of a new model Montana intended to be a better option for fulltimers. I think the model may be the Executive but I'm not positive about that. Other than that I guess we wait to see what they come up with. Sounds like yet another winner to me.
