Leveling on planks that SLIDE

A Motor Home was trying to level his front wheels on planks and they keep sliding. I remember my planks sliding many times. We are in a sandy area so I reached down and sprinkled a light layer of sand between the planks. NO SLIDING.
So I now have a quart jar of sand if there is not any available.
Why did I think of that before.

Now that is some useful information. In particular, I can see the benefits for those of us (me included) who carry our leveling boards in the truck bed. When they are wet and even when they are frosty (Sorry Snowbirds - had to throw one of them northerner words in there!!!) this will be of great help. Thanks H. John

Nice! Great tip.

Another problem that I had was the boards lifting and angling sideways just as the tire starts to roll onto it. A bevel on the ends of the board, instead of just a straight cut, pretty much eliminates the this problem.

I am curious if they were cut square or beveled. Mine are cut at a 45 degree angle and I have never had a problem with them sliding. When the tire touches, it is already starting to press down on the board.

John,
Spend the money for an automatic leveling system, then you just have to push a button. They start around $150K and can spiral upwards considerably. If you need a picture, I can provide one. Unfortunately it has a vehicle attached to the back.

Sorry! Couldn't resist. But they do make auto leveling jacks for 5er's. Don't know if you would have to beef up the frame or not.

Edited: Spelling.

When we bought our previous rv (Terry TT), we got a home-made ramp from the people we bought it from. I think it is a section of aluminum flooring from a reefer unit with a wood 4x4 under the one end and 2x4 under the middle. So far it has never moved from where I placed it. Works great IMHO.

I carry a 2x6 6 feet long and a 1X6 5 feet long I drilled two holes in each of them and when there is a need for both boards I drop a carrage bolt in the 1x6 and into the holes on the 2x6. NO slide
when I need just one of them the carrage bolts can be put in the boards to act as an anchors to keep them from skiding but so far I have not had the problem of sliding. Oh yes the ends on both are cut at around 45 degrees
