HD Truck Hitch Adapter
Has anyone ever seen an adapter to take a standard tractor 5th wheel hitch down to the pin size on our 5vers? My B-I-L is a sales manager for a GM dealer truck division and he has offered to move my rig around for me until I get a truck bought. I have never heard of such a thing but I thought someone hear may have. Seems improbable.

I used the commercial hitch on my Volvo for a number of months before I switched over to a trailersaver hitch. I know quite a few people who still use the commercial hitch. Same pin size.

I have driven many HD Class 8 trucks and all I have seen will tow a 5th wheel. The King Pins are the same. Have also seen many full timer's using the HD Class 8 Truck Towing 5th wheels. You want have a problem as long as the 5th wheel on the Class 8 has space between the back of the Truck and the lower front of the 5th wheel. GBY...

The pin size is the same for the big rigs as the 5ers.
The only thing I caution about is the big rig hitch will be a lot rougher ride on the 5er than a pickup or an air ride hitch on a semi.

Thanks all for your advice. My own research also shows the pins to be the same SAE 2". I assume that the pin box height will be within the range that the tractor hitch can adjust to accommodate. I haven't looked at the lights breaks adapter yet. I assume it is available? Any additional on this.

As for the light and brake connections, usually you have to either wire the truck special for the trailer or you may be able to make a special conversion wire harness.
For the brakes, there is no electrical hookup in a semi for brakes. I usually tap into the air pressure sensor for the brake lights to hook the electric brake controller into.
Of course I have always converted the semi over for 5er use permanently. I have never done one to be used as both commercial and recreational.
