Stiles--That's exactly the configuration I'm inclined to go with, albeit with the Surge Guard coming after the Autoformer. Thanks for explaining things so clearly and for the info on the inexpensive high voltage surge protector.

And I also agree with you and OZZIE that we shouldn't have to buy all these separate components to provide this type of basic protection to our rigs.

Here is the link of the installation of an Autoformer on our coach. Note: This is a 30Amp coach not a 50Amp.

As Carole noted above, if the Autoformer fails for any reason, it only has to be unplugged and the two pigtails used to bypass it, until it is repaired.

I do not have any surge protection other than that provided by the Autoformer.
