Husky 16K Slider Problem?

Hi and thanks to all on the tip to purchase a slider for my short box truck. I picked up the hitch on friday and plan to install it as soon as the truck arrives...been waiting 13 weeks now!. I'm not sure if I have a problem with this hitch. Looking at the hitch and pulling the release as far as it will go still does not take the latch completely out of the way. Is anyone familiar with this particular hitch and if so will it release if the latch isn't completely open? Not being familiar with 5th wheel setups I'm not sure if this is correct.
