Awnings

Well... we are replacing our 18’ and 9’ awnings on our 17 3160RL and adding an awning on the DS over the seating and dining slide. We went with Shade Pro fabric and the aluminum cover on all of them. Wife choose toupe for the fabric and black on the aluminum covers, installation is set for 7/29. Pretty excited about this upgrade from the vinyl.

I just replaced our 17’ with shade pro fabric. Easy job looks great. Required two people for about 15 min.

I would like to install an Awning on the drivers side slide (kitchen slide). I have two on the other side, including one on the dining room slide.
My question is, is the mounting points reinforced inside the slide? Or do the just anchor it to the frame?

Doubtful that it’s reinforced. The screws at the top are short and the rest is riveted from the factory. From what I have seen with window awnings and the like you can pretty much just place and awning wherever you can mount the gutter rail.

You'll have to send pics when done. Why replace relatively new awnings?

Will this awning tape be strong enough to reconnect the awning to the metal strip on the RV? Mine is torn there, causing the apparatus to stick out, which is no bueno for driving. I get that the tape would be perfect for a tear in the middle of the awning, but will it hold at the seam that connects it to the trailer?

The Vinyl on the 18, is starting to delaminate and valance is staring to tear, the stitching on the trailer side is also staring to come apart.

Also hoping with going to the fabric the radiant heat coming off the vinyl is reduced.

Will do.

Looks good. Are they cooler than vinyl?

Yes they are, it’s 100 out here and it’s a cool 76 inside, I thing adding the awning at our slide out made a difference. Sitting under them is cooler then the vinyl.
