Replaced vent cover

Only 3 years old!!! Bathroom vent lid disentigrated. Only $12 and an hours work. Can't believe it failed so quickly. Just plain cheap!

I'm not sure what's up with these. The ones on our old Montana were almost 7 years old and still OK. Maybe if you are further south and get more sun (along with U/V rays), it caused it to go bad quicker. Someone reported that they spray theirs with paint each year and it seems to help. You might give it a try.

The sun can be vicious on plastic. That said, the original equipment vent covers were supplied by the low bidder. I changed mine on a tree branch in Goshen so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

Heavy concentrations of noxious fumes and oders may have been the culprit! Don't eat any more slum gully, ya hear!

Larry is that a fantastic fan cover or one of the regular ones? If it was a Fantastic Fan you can contact them and they will send you a new cover. Also did you put a MaxAir or equivelent cover over it? I've got a 2004 unit and covered it with a larger vent cover that hinges for cleaning and etc and have had no problems with mine. The cover does not hinder the fan operation and keeps the UVs off the OEM vent cover. I did have to replace the inside dome above our shower but not the outside(knock on wood) and when I did I used the spray that auto hobbiests use to spray the taillight lenses darker to spray the inside of the outer dome. I also put a sheet of the window tinting film inbetween the domes and it worked great. It sure helps keep the light out and keeps it cooler inside also. If you do not want to put the MaxAir cover on you might try the spray deal. I picked up the spray at an auto parts store!

Just replaced both of our vent covers. They fell apart. Had MaxAirs on them, too. But after 7 years of travel, guess that's not too bad. Agree w/Sheepdog's comment above!

It has had a Maxair cover on it since day 1. It is an Elixer, replaced it with Camco (unbreakable) we'll see. We have a Vortex fan in it. It's possible that Sheepdog is correct, lol {.
