Hi,
I have an AstroStart
http://www.astroflex.com/index.php?module=CMS&id=15
This is my first remote starter. I use to sit in the truck and wait till the temperature gauge started to move before I moved out of park.
First I believe in warming up the vehicle prior to operation. Some may say its a waste of fuel. I think its just (non scientific) precausious measures for longevity of the engine and powertrain with an automatic transmission.
This allows the metals to reach operating temperature avoiding metal fatigue / extra stress.
The coolant is heated for creature comforts while warming the various metals of todays engines.
It makes for scraping ICE off the windshield so much easier.
Having a remote start will do nothing for the suspension / drive line except for the heat given off by the engine block to these various components.
After now having a remote start I don't know how I ever sat in the truck waiting for it to warm up. I'm not one to venture out start the truck and come back in for a cup of coffee. So I am an advocate of my new remote starter.
For what its worth, I just saw a TV comercial stating that Pontiac is offering it standard with one of their cars.
I wish you luck in your decision / opinions received.
