We would like some ideas. We are thinking about going in the Fall. What areas would be scenic, close to Rocky Mountain Natl. park and other areas of the state. We are retired so we don't have to hurry home to Michigan. Thanks for your input. Stacy

A couple of places that we visited last year that I would recommend are the Mesa Verde and Black Canyon of the Gunnison both are National Parks. Between them you can visit Durango, Silverton and Ouray but you will have to go over two passes, Monarch 11,312 ft and Molas 10,910 ft.

If you come before Labor Day, Estes Park may be something akin to a zoo. Lots of tourists. As far as scenic-when you come out of the park on the W side you could almost throw a dart at the map and have "scenic".

The entire West side of the state is beautiful and that goes for Southern Utah as well.

Maybe come to Granby, go to Kremmling and Steamboat Springs and on to Craig then head south to Rifle and grab I70 to Grand Junction and the Grand Mesa as well as the Colorado Nat'l Monument. If you take Hwy 141 South you get to Dove Creek and then to Cortez and Durango which could include Mesa Verde.

You will miss Glenwood Canyon by going this way but hey-that's another trip!

We have lived here for almost 40 years and still find new things to see so take it from there.
