Satellite issue
Hi Everyone:
We have a new Big Sky 379RL. We had them install a traveler satellite dish for Dish network. First think I noticed is they ran all connections with RG6 coax. Had to get a 211k Dish box with coax in and out. The 211z we have only has coax in and HDMI out. Connected everything with coax and set up the box. I can only find picture on Chennel 3. Picture is fuzzy on all TV's and SD only. No HD. I checked every connection and all seemed fine. Splitter used to go to other TV's is the correct one at 2.6 ghz.
I bypassed all other cables and ran a RG6 cable from the Dish box to the TV and same bad picture and no HD. I then ran an HDMI cable from the Dish box to the TV and had excellent picture and beautiful HD. Could the coax out on the Dish box be bad or is there something else I am doing wrong when running the coax?
I am thinking of running everything HDMI but I have no idea how to find where these cables are located and how to get to them. Just thinking about it at this point.
Best regards,
Steve

The coax output from the 211k receiver is going to be SD, not HD. But it should be a very good picture. I have a 211k with HDMI to the living room TV and coax to the bedroom TV and both have very good picture, the bedroom being only 19" doesn't need HD.
My only guess is that with the coax you do not have the correct input selected from the TV setup menu, or it has been scanned properly. I think my does come thru channel 3 in the bedroom.

We had ours installed several years ago, and when we got the trailer back to the campground we were staying at, I had to call Dish to set up the account. I figured we were good to go. When we attempted to see all the channels, we were very limited, and after getting no where, I called Dish support, and after being on the phone for what seemed like hours, all the time their tech walking me through the system, it was discovered that the receivers were not programmed to see all three satellites, so we went through the procedure to link them up, and the system has been perfect ever since. All of our connections are with the coax, and the picture is great, SD and HD. Seems the installers can't get things set up until an account is working, so the installer wasn't able to have the system operational when he was done with the installation. Call Dish support, and they will probably be able to get you working.

From past experience, be sure the tech you talk too understands RV's. If they don't have them transfer you to one that does. They have plenty of them that do.

Yes that is what I love about Dish they are RV friendly, but like Dick said find a Rep that knows about the Tailgater or Traveler

Hi Everyone:
Well I can now report that we finally have beautiful HD TV in our rig. Started checking the lines and discovered the two of the lines run by Keystone were bad. No signal on one and a very bad quality signal on the other. Ended up running new lines and now all is well. Thank you all so much for your help and suggestions.
Regards,
Steve

Not surprising. Many of us have at least had to replace connectors. Just surprised the installers didn't check that.
