Why is it I always learn the hard way!!!https://mon

Went to take out Monty out of storage today so we could take it to the Oregon coast, buuut I had no battery to run my hydraulics, hmmm I had it plugged it to 120 you charge the batteries but that didn't do anything apparently. I had to take the batteries out and put them on charge in my garage.
I was told about taking them out for the winter but stupid me ignored that advice, I suppose I'll learn to listen some day

They say experience is the best teacher, but the problem is that you get he test before the lesson. For sure we have all done that except the wife .

If you had it plugged into a 120 source and it didn't keep the battery charged, you may want to check the converter.

There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.

When you parked it for the winter, you didn't by chance engauge the battery disconnect switch? If so I think that breaks the circuit between the converter/charger and the battery.

Ah the old electric fence.
Cousins got me to do that when I was four. Still remember what it felt like today. Not the best way to learn, but the lesson stays with you

Check the 30 amp fuse in the power center. If it has popped that could be your problem.

I was somewhat older when I learned about electric fences. It knocked me off the lower branch of a live oak tree and caused all my children to be born naked.

I'm not sure what happened in your case, but I leave my batteries in place, with the Monty plugged in all winter long. The batteries are always at a full charge state.

I do the same as Mark, I have never used the battery disconnect with the exception of investigating what is and is not disconnected when you do turn it off.
In the position where the key can be removed the batteries are isolated from the converter, therefore will not be charged by the converter, there is some drain on the batteries even when the disconnect is activated and will certainly drain the batteries over the course of the winter.
For information only, the disconnect does "NOT" isolate the batteries from the slide and level up operation and batteries must be installed to operate those systems, the converter alone cannot supply sufficient current to operate them.

My best advise is if you cannot have your unit plugged in all the time then remove the batteries and maintain them with a battery maintainer or every month with a charger. Forget the disconnect is even there and you will never have to worry about whether it is in the proper position.

Get yourself a Battery Jumper with Air Compressor. There are several, but here is what I am talking about.

http://www.amazon.com/Wagan-900-Batt...y+booster+pack

Went to pick up the Montana in middle of Winter from Camping World, where they had it for a month, and they left the disconnect on, and the battery was drained. They use one these Battery Jumpers, and I was able to get hooked up. I got one soon after at Northern Tool, which has Compressor and LED light on it. Never leave home without it now.

To eliminate any drain of my batteries while stored, I will disconnect the battery from the direct ground connection. We do not have a power source to stay plugged in at the storage location. This seems top work for me.
