Well, we have started on our 2 month trip. I retired on 2/16 and we left 2/17 from Silverdale, WA. Our first stop was the Blue Ox RV Park in Albany, OR. (nice campground). The next night we stayed at Win River Casino free in their parking lot (need to register at the lobby). We had great weather on the way down. Then we stayed the next 5 days at Gold Ranch in Verdi NV, 10 miles west of Reno. It snowed 3 days while we were there. However, we had a great time exploring Tahoe, Virginia City, Reno, and Carson City. Reno has sure gone down hill. Next stop was Beatty RV Resort( a basic park, dirt lot, but friendly hosts). While there, we toured Northern Death Valley (Scotty's Castle which was remarkable, Ubehebe Crater, Sand Dunes, Stovepipe Wells and Rhyolite-a neat ghost town). Just spent a week at Terrible's RV Resort in Pahrump, NV. Very nice park. We had a site right on the man-made lake. Great meals at the casino and great prices! There were a lot of "two for one" deals, you can't cook it for those prices. It was windy part of the week, but the last two days got nicer and nicer. We went to Southern Death Valley while in that area and saw Badwater, Artist's Drive, hiked Gold Canyon, Furnace Creek, & the Borax Museum. Death Valley is very interesting and what a variety of terrains. We also went to the Amargosa Opera House to see the famous Marta Becket's Show. Her paintings on the opera house walls are fantastic and very detailed. The walls are paintings of an audience (famous opera stars and King Arthur type characters). On the other hand, Marta is now 82 and has hurt her back plus the other half of the show passed away in 2005, so it is now a one-lady sit-down show. We also visited Red Rock Canyon which is beautiful. There is a 13 mile one-way drive with plenty of look-outs and trails. We are now at the Oasis RV Park in Las Vegas...what a park! There are two gorgeous swimming pools and lots of mega dollar RVs. The weather is also in the 70s. We still have a lot to look forward to..w
e want to go to Lake Havasu City, Tucson, Tombstone, Bisbee, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Zion and Bryce National Parks.
We have a 2006 3295RK which is a wonderful home. There hasn't been many problems, but the electrical support bracket on both the kitchen and dining room slides broke and we replaced them with a 4" butt-hinge on the outer side of the slide. We have also had a 30 amp fuse blow for the front electrical jacks. Our 2006 Ford F350 Diesel Lariat has performed flawlessly and is pulling our rig very well. We will keep you informed as we travel along.
